Global Primary Aluminum Surplus Reaches 105.1 Thousand Tons in May 2024

The latest report from the World Bureau of Metal Statistics (WBMS) reveals that in May 2024, global primary aluminum production reached 6.0053 million tons, with consumption at 5.9002 million tons, resulting in a supply surplus of 105,100 tons. From January to May 2024, global primary aluminum production totaled 29.5127 million tons, while consumption was 29.1502 million tons, leading to a supply surplus of 362,500 tons.

  • The global zinc market experienced a supply surplus of 140,100 tons.
  • The global refined lead market saw a supply surplus of 14,000 tons.
  • The global refined nickel market faced a supply shortage of 1,700 tons.
