CN Aluminum Industry in April 2024: Production, Inventory, and Exports

According to Baichuan statistics, in April 2024, China's alumina production reached 6.826 million tons, representing a year-on-year increase of 2.45%. The average daily production was 227,500 tons, which was an increase of 0.29 thousand tons compared to March 2024, where the daily production was 224,600 tons. China's primary aluminum production was 3.4935 million tons, showing a year-on-year increase of 5.39%. The average daily production was 116,400 tons, with an annualized production of 42.6203 million tons. Compared to March 2024, where the daily production was 115,000 tons, it increased by 0.14 thousand tons. China's aluminum ingot production was 1.2215 million tons, an increase of 1.47% compared to the previous year. The average daily production was 40,700 tons, showing an increase of 0.13 thousand tons compared to March 2024.

According to Mysteel statistics, as of May 9, 2024, China's major electrolytic aluminum markets had a total social inventory of 804,000 tons, a decrease of 17,000 tons from May 6. Specifically, in Wuxi, there were 278,000 tons, a decrease of 4,000 tons; in Foshan, there were 246,000 tons, a decrease of 4,000 tons; in Gongyi, there were 133,000 tons, a decrease of 3,000 tons; and in Shanghai, there were 37,000 tons, a decrease of 3,000 tons.

According to the General Administration of Customs data, in April 2024, China exported 520,000 tons of unrolled aluminum and aluminum products. From January to April, the cumulative exports reached 1.998 million tons, representing an 8.8% increase compared to the same period last year.
